Jacke has tear on the front panel near the bottom of the foldover and a large flap tear down the rear spine fold that crosses to the front of the spine midway down. Chips on spine ends and corners. Now in clear cover. "When the Maharajah of Bhopore and his guests, along with a veritable atmy of servants, porters and beaters, sally forth for day's shooting, everyone anticpates an impressive bag. Not everyone expected the first in the bag would the Maharajah himself. Detective Superintendent of Police Howard is called in to unravel the complex tangle of motive, and in the best British Imperial tradition ties up the loose ends of the plot."

Blue paper on boards. Volume has trace of edgewear, a scratch mark on the top of the rear cover. The two top corners slightly bumped. Scuff mark on the front pastedown, was some kind of ink marking. Jacket is lightly worn on the edges, with a scratch mark on the top of the rear panel. Front and rear panels are rubbed. Now in clear cover. "The story is simple. An independent island state in the North Atlantic has come under the sway of Rolph Mylchraine, a landowner who has gained ascendancy by stage-managing witchcraft orgies, and purveying cheap liquor. Opposing him is Keig, a peasant of extraordinary physical strength who gradually emerges as a leader on the grand scale. Through their developing struggle, which becomes a guerrilla war in the classic mold, echoes the sombre theme of the fatal tendency of power to corrupt."
